This house was designed with a sense of fun and the repatriation of the style of the second empire, American gothic as it were. With porches, glazed loggias, gables and multiple tiers of dormers, the use of weatherboard and timber detailing is pushed to the limits. The steep mansard roof is highlighted with an ‘oeil de boeuf‘ window and topped with a tower. The long kitchen is reached via a fully glazed hall. The house is full of light flooding in through large sash windows that benefit from the hill top position. A RIOT OF DORMERS STEPHEN LANGER ARCHITECTS PORTFOLIO 19
